purple algea help

hi everyone looking for some advice on algae i have on side of tank. i have a couple pics. i started using purple up about 3 weeks ago thats when it started. it doesn't look like cyano but it looks like clumps of purple algae it seems to the touch to be somewhat hard just wondering if this is part of the process coraline algae takes.

my tank has been in great condition water wise and as well the corals i have my lighting is a coralife p/c 28 watt as well i have a 15watt actinc.

any thoughts would be great

the green on the right looks like algae. i suggest a magnet scraper. the purple on the back looks like coraline.. you need to check your alk, mag and ca levels.

Im not familar with saltwater tanks. a magnet scraper should work ok, as onefish2fish has mentioned.

yes the green is algea but very hard so i thought it may progress to coraline algea not sure though, not sure if i need to remove it. as for the purple i aske for advice only because it is kinda hard but also looks like tuffs of algea not sure if that is how coraline algea starts off. well as for cal levels they are only at 340 still trying to raise them not sure how to check magnesium levels or alk, Any help?

coraline can come in all different colors, from purple to pinks and yellows and oranges. purple is the most common i see. i have some orange in my tank and i think alittle yellow but not much. if its hard and encrusts its more likely coraline. if its hairy, furry, soft.. its something else.

IMO purple up is an overpriced alk suppliment however i do not have experience with this product. keeping good alk, mag and cal levels are important for coraline, coral, and even fish health. you can test these levels with a good liquid test kit and dose accordingly.
