New Big Tank set up

Well some how I lucked out and I was given a 210 gallon fish tank. When I went to pick the tank up they had a sump tank with it too. It was set up for fresh water. I have a 90 gallon salt water tank set up now but I am looking to set up the new one. Right now I am getting everything I need. I am buying sand for it. The one problem I have is I don't know how to set up the tank as far as the sump goes. I have never used one before. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas.

I think that with a sump tank underneath the big tank it needs some kind of an over flow. Does it have an over flow chamber? Wow you are lucky I wish that I could stumble across a tank that big.

Nice score Snapper! You need to find out if there was ever a copper treatment used in that tank as it would make the tank suitable as a fish only, copper bonds to glass and continues to release after the fact and would create problems long term

I was going to clean it before i set it up just in case. Someone told me to use vinegar. Would that be a good idea? Would that remove anything that would be harmful

Wow, how awesome is that! i wish i would be given one too... alas it shant come to pass.

One thing you need to ask the previous owner is "has the tank been dosed with copper products before" you are indeed setting up a reef and need to ensure that there won't be any chance of that leaking back into the tank and annoying your leathers. just a thought
