Algee Problem, help....

We have a 12 gl sw tank and it is growing green algee like crazy. We cleaned the glass at night and in the morning it is green again. We asked our fish store and they said the light might be too much, we have limited the lighting but still haveing the problem. The light is a 65 watt coral life light. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix the problem and slow the growth?

we'll need to know more about your tank. How old is it? What kind of water do you use for top-offs and water changes (tap water, or RO/DI water)? What are your water pararmeters, specifically nitrates and phosphates? How often do you feed? What kind of lights, and what is your light schedule? Give us as much info as possible, the more you give the more we'll be able to help

Light is only one part of the equation, algae requires light and nutrients to grow. If you aren't giving it too much light, then it's probably too much nutrients (nutrients is the problem WAY more often than too much light). To curb the algae growth, not only will you need to get rid of it's food source, but also figure out why it got too high to begin with, so the problem doesn't come up again in the future!

Along with the other questions, how old are your bulbs? Older bulbs have a tendency to create nucient algae. Other then that though, your lights isn't too much and so it's going to be your nutrients in the tank.

are you sure it's algae? sounds too fast to me ? whole tank or just glass?
