Do any of you guys know if they make a protein skimmer small enough for a 10 gallon, that preferably doesn't cost too much and does the job well?

This would be my personal hang on favorite for a 10 gallon:
Nano Reef Protein Skimmer Needle Wheel Venturi Rio - eBay (item 300294886722 end time Mar-20-09 10:27:04 PDT)

I've used this internal model with ok results for a small tank:
Protein Skimmer Counter Current - Medium | Air Stone Driven | Protein Skimmers | Aquarium - ThatPetPlace.com

Here is another internal that appears to be higher quality:
Aqua Medic Miniflotor

The skilter is not horrible for a 10 gallon, plus it gives you the added benefit of water movement:
Skilter 250 Power Filter | Power Aquarium Filters | Filters | Aquarium - ThatPetPlace.com

The Prism is a low-cost small aquarium skimmer, if you can find one for $50 or less on e-bay:
Prizm Protein Skimmer Red Sea New Free Shipping Demo - eBay (item 260364232420 end time Feb-24-09 17:38:04 PST)

Bottom line, small skimmers have very little contact time for organic waste to bond to the bubbles. The result is a low quality skimmer. But any skimmer is better than nothing, so I suggest spending the cash.
