VHO Questions

I have some questions about VHO lighting. I have a 4 bulb 440watt set that runs off of a single ballast, I have been told that they are like Christmas tree lights as far as if one goes out they all go out. Is this true? Also is there any way to test the Ballast, this set is a hand me down and I was told it was barely used.

Thanks for any help

Chuck,

I can't answer the question you ask, but the question itself is almost irrelevant. VHO bulbs will burn for 2 years or more, but need to be replaced after 9 to 12 months on a marine reef aquarium. You should never have a bulb go out.

If by some chance a bulb is broken or burns out early, you should be inspecting the filters and lights on a daily basis anyhow, as part of the normal aquarium care.
