Question skimmer not producing enough bubbles?

i got a skimmer over the week end and in between everything else i gave it a test run.... i am a bit concerned that it does not seem to be producing enough bubbles..... it's a coralife super skimmer.. the pump seems fine and the flow is not an issue.. could it be due to testing in FW?
my thought was to add a wood bubble-stone to it and just run it like that... any ideas?

Did you run airline tubing from the pump to above the water level? Did you adjust the red knob on top of the intake?

yes and yes.. made the mistake of snapping the old one off then re-glued the venturi input (yes its clear i checked 5x just to be sure) added a new air line and made certain it was above water level... no kinks no twists nada....the skimmer makes bubbles just not many.... and they appear large comared to what i have seen previously.... again not complaining just trying to get it right.. i dont mind adding the air stone just would like to see it work with out the additional gear...

as previously stated i am a total nub i mean noob to salt water LOL once in the slat sump bubbles like crazy.... it is working fine i figure a few days break in and all will be going nicely...
one more question how relevant is the amount of water around the skimmer to water height within the skimmer? i only ask because it seems a bit higher than i expected and i have no one to walk me through it at this moment.... thanx all

Water level does have an effect on the productivity of the skimmer. I believe you can go to Coralife.com and it will give the specs on this particular skimmer. I want to say between 6-12" of water depth with the pump being submerged at least 3".
