I am looking to add a RO/DI unit to my setup, and am looking to purchase an inexpensive unit. I do not want to sacrifice quality too much, but I also prefer not to pay an arm and a leg.

I found these online:

This one I put DIY RO/DI in the search engine and this was on another forum as a recommended premade unit.

This one I found on Dr Foster and Smith, I was thinking the 50 gpd, 4-stage.

I would hook this up in my basement, and possibly use it for drinking water also. That way I can justify the purchase to my fiance, and have a RO/DI unit.

Please let me know which would be the best purchase; if you can recommend another, please do so.

Those are a bit pricey and are only 4 stage, which usually leave off the DI part of the purifier. I got mine from Reef Shop and not only is it a 5 stage RO/DIl, but it's also 100gph in oppose to the 50gph you're currently looking at.

I got mine from E-bay and units works perfectly, my TDS meter reads 0.00 and I've been using it weekly for 6 months now....

Do these hook up under sink, or can I hook it up in the basement? I was planning on sweating it straight into my cold water supply, and draining the waste into my washer outlet. Is this possible?

They give you the option of choosing the type of connection needed for whatever type of application you want to use it for..... They also have a good 24 hour service line you can call to speak to someone directly if you need help.......My LFS pointed them out to me, at that price, my LFS doent even bother replacing the media when its old, they just tend to order new one's...
