I suppose it's the pump.It came with 3 O-rings that I used to keep it from leaking, I didn't know they dampened vibration too. I'm running it in a bucket of salt water in the office right now, we couldn't take it in the living room. I'll run it a few days and see what happens, then I'll ask Coralvue for a new pump. I wish I knew someone with one that I could compare noise with.
Here is Coralvue's response: If you removed the impeller and it has no obvious defects in the pinwheel itself and the shaft is all in one piece then you most likely are experiencing the normal vibration of the pump breaking in which should decrease within a period of a week or two. Usually getting quitter by the day.
