Reef Octopus BH2000 HOB skimmer users- chime in!

I just bought a BH2000 skimmer a few days ago based on reviews that said it was quiet. I didn't expect it to be silent but it is LOUD! The reviews mentioned the sound from the air line but I can't hear that over the pump. It is in the living room and I can hear it all the way back in the bedroom.
BRS said it should be no more than a "hum" that can be heard in a quiet room and Coralvue customer support said it should get quieter by the day as it breaks in. Is this true? Have any of you had the same noisy pump issue and did it quiet down?
I took the pump apart and didn't see anything obviously wrong with the impeller or shaft, I wonder if I have a bad pump.

I'd tell em to send you a new pump Jim, all this doens't sound right to me. Unless we are missing an O-Ring somehwere that would dampen vibration. Is it the pump or the vibration from that pump making all the noise?

I suppose it's the pump.It came with 3 O-rings that I used to keep it from leaking, I didn't know they dampened vibration too. I'm running it in a bucket of salt water in the office right now, we couldn't take it in the living room. I'll run it a few days and see what happens, then I'll ask Coralvue for a new pump. I wish I knew someone with one that I could compare noise with.
Here is Coralvue's response:
If you removed the impeller and it has no obvious defects in the pinwheel itself and the shaft is all in one piece then you most likely are experiencing the normal vibration of the pump breaking in which should decrease within a period of a week or two. Usually getting quitter by the day.
