For some reason my protein skimmer is blowing out micro bubbles and its making my tank look bad. It is a marineland (instant ocean makers) 150 gallon skimmer. I closed the valve for a day like it says but it never works right. Any suggestions?
You can try fabricating a chamber to put in front of the water flow back to the tank. Fill the chamber with filter flosh and this will make the micro bubbles burst before entering your tank.
It is a pain in the a__ I have the same problem. Floss works good. I just fiddled with mine till I fixed it, but I don't know what I did to fix it. The bubbles just stoped.
Sounds like a HOT skimmer. Very difficult to reduce the microbubbles. In a well designed sump you have what are called bubble chambers to vent the bubbles before the return pump.
