protein skimmer during cycling

I just added 100 pounds of live rock to my 90 gallon and was wondering if I should leave my protein skimmer on or off during cycling my tank

i don't see any harm leaving it on as it will take away surface protein that will block small amounts of light from getting into the tank and help the live rock grow polyps and corals

I know this is an old thread, but I just want to add that I always run my skimmer during the cycle. This is especially important if the live rock is not yet cured, as the removal of the organic proteins allows for the tank to mature quicker.
