You should adjust the height of the cup so that the maximum amount of material is collected. The higher the cup, the thicker the accumulation, but the less accumulated. You want at minimum a very dark thick coffee colored liquid. In the perfect world, the bubbles would form a thick paste inside the collection cup.

Generally, I start by placing the bottom of the collection cup 1'' above the bubbles.

do you like the aquac remora? did you just the get the maxi jet 1200? does it come with everything needed, and you just hang it on and plug it in?

I haven't used the AquaC at home, but i have seen it on several systems. It would not be my first choice in a skimmer, but if a hang on model is required and you can get one at an inexpensive price, then the output is not bad.

I've had mixed results with the Maxi Jets for venturi driven skimmers. I prefer a needle wheel style impeller for a skimmer.

So I have my remora set up, but it is not producing in skimmate. I just set up my tank, so this is probably why, but I just want to make sure. I included a mod directly above the spray injector to quiet it down.

I'd agree with you there. You need to have something in the tank for it to pull out, but it also has to craete a bit of build up before it'll start working. Initially you won't get much if any, but in the eventual, you'll get skimmate going.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea...
