Post Power Sweep 228 ????

I have a 55gal tank and i am lost for water movement. I have done a bit of research and came up with the idea of putting two Power Sweep model 228 on each end of my tank. The description says they rotate and i believe this would give me the water flow i desire. Does anyone have this type of powerhead and if so is it worth spending the money on. Any other suggestions???

The Power Sweeps are complete and utter garbage. They constantly freeze up, they are monstrously bulky and the flow is minimal at best. Spend your money on Hydor Koralias.

Take pride in what you do, for it is a reflection of who you are.

Yes, or at least get something like MaxiJets, and even if you get the Korelias then get a MJ for backup. (can never be to safe)

I currently have a MJ 400, little to no movement is achieved with it. It was an original investment but i am hesitant about MJ. Would a MJ 1200 give me a reasonable amount of waterflow difference over the 400. The HK's are ok but my friend has one and it just bairly stirs a 20gal tank up. His is a nano though. Mine is a 55gal rectangular tank. Any other suggestions on which models.

Well, My plans are for two Hydor Koralia 3's for a 75. I'll let you know how they work out when i get them.

I have 2MJ 1200 and a 600. it makes a huge difference. it's a different impeller in the MJ 1200 than it is in the 400-800. there's a mod you can do that's really easy, you just get a hacksaw and cut a hole into the side and it'll increase flow very significantly. i can link if you need, pm me please.

Korilia are great for water movement. i've used MJ1200, MJ600, Rio800-50 and they work well too, but the stream pumps are better distrubuted through the tank. many like to bounce the flow off the glass to get it from more directions.
