A mag 9.5 may be a little to much to match the siphon. I have a CPR 90, 600 gph (for sale), that I just took off my 46 gallon bow, and I used a 700 gph Eheim Compact+ pump.

Where are you located?

Mag9.5 can return with a "Y" back into the sump if the return is too high for the overflow. Mags do rust ( at least a short time ago)

Years ago we made our own overflow boxes out of Acrylic & drilled them into the back of the tank.
Now i see they are production made:

It looks CPR Overflow Boxes have improved!

I found a pic of my DIY overflow
