new filter

Just purchased a new 30 g sump, it is split up with bio balls and large skimming section, refugium and return area.
I also purchased mud for the refugium the guys that sold me the mud told me that this is all i need to start the refugium don't I have to purchase micro algea? Sorry still new at this. And I also got a T5 24' light with day light and acinic bulbs for the fuge.
When I cycle my new tank should I cycle it with the fuge already set up or do i set up the fuge first?

60 gal hex tank, 150 W Metal Halide 2 96w Acinic bulbs,
2 power heads,
Still to buy 60 lbs of live rock and 3 inches of live sand.

Personally I don't trust "mud" or Garf's Grunge. If you want the crap that accumulates in the bottom of my sump, come and get it.

You will need some cheato or caulerpa to begin growing macro algaes. The different "mud" manufacturers may claim that algaes will grow from the mud but it would take forever.
