need help choosing a protein skimmer

I have read a lot about how important protein skimmers are and in every thread at least one person mentions it's better to just go out and buy a good skimmer to begin with. I just learned what a protein skimmer even was about a week ago so I have absolutely no idea what some good protein skimmers are. I have a 90 gallon tank and I'm looking for an in sump protein skimmer. If you can just let me know what some good skimmers are that would be much appreciated :) Are either Eshopp or marineland skimmers any good?

thanks,
Aaron

i personally like ASM better then those brands.
i had an MR2 for awhile which performed nice but was very loud sucking air. i also hear good things about the newer cone skimmers. after i stopped using the MR2 i went with a MRC.

I have been told, it's usually better to go with a skimmer that is twice the size of your tank. I just bought the Reef Octopus 130 for my 75 gallon tank. It was one that was recommended to me by one of our great forum members, who's been doing reefs for 15+ years. I can't give you any advice on my end just what I have been told. Like yourself, I'm also very new and relying on other people's experience.

As posted above tho, the Reef Octopus series all have phenomenal reviews and are as affordable as most other brands.
