I lost all my coral last weekend due to overheating. I have a 20 long with a 10 gallon sump... total water volume minus rocks is around 20. My tank got up to 88 degrees.
I've found an Aqua Euro 1/10 for a great price and I like it because it's oversized and good if I ever upgrade.
I also found a current USA 1/15 for a good price and these will turn off your heater if the chiller needs to be activated.
well what are the prices...and what about the room the tanks is in...it is usualy cheaper to just get a good airconditioner and cool the room at acceptable levels..and keep the air moving across the tank to remove acummulated hot air..
$324 on the aqua euro and $307 on the currant USA. I have an AC unit but it's not in. Would that cool the tank enough? I mean it read 88 degrees last week. Posted via Mobile Device
a cooler room makes a cooler tank..many of your pumps will generate heat but mainly its your room and lighting.if you adequitly ventilate your lighting and have a reasonably cool room you should be able to keep the tank at ideal tempatures.thats the way i roll.i have too many tank to have chillers for so i simply keep my house at 75-76 and my tank stay at 78-81 and the higher temp tank being a nano cube desighn with enclosed lighting..i would look into that..
