Lighting Distance

How far away should I have the light from the surface. Its currently about 1 inch now.

Who knew a hobby can be soooooooooooo fun and expensive!

All my lights are 6" away from the surface.

As long as it does not heat the water or cause bulb breakage I think you'll be ok. I keep my MH 6" from the water but it's to make sure the light spreads out.
