Lighting for 125g freshwater tank

I am planning on putting normal CFL lights under a 3 partition canopy and need to see if this is OK. There will be 2 single sockets on the ends and possibly a double socket in the middle all wired in series going to a single plug. Is this type of wiring OK or will it cause a fire hazard.
