how bout it
i was wondering what do you all think about this set up. it would be or a 75gal,fowlr(slowing transitiong into a full reef) setup.. it seams like it would have all of the benifits of a traditional sump, such as, extra water volume, protien skimmer, surface skimmer, plus plenty of room for filter media(would only use carbon). but none of the sump drawlbacks, mainly space, and potential for flooding.. so what do you think,k pro's and con's Aquarium Filtration: Rapids Pro Series Wet/Dry Filter from Tom Aquarium Products
Its not the same as a sump. You can't grow anything in it to be beneficial to your tank, which is what a sump is used for. Cant put your skimmer in it, can't put your heaters in it. Its basically just a self contained top off unit. The skimmer is, well, junk for lack of a better word. And for the money I'd use a Magnum for running carbon. Phosban Reactor for running Phos remover.
