I recently installed a second hk 3 powerhead to my 45 gallon tall tank. So, now I have two hooked up. Do I have to much flow? Just by looking at the water movement, I feel like I may have over done it. What corals thrive in such an enviroment? Which ones don't?
Thought I would mention how I have them set up right now. One is the back left corner shooting straight across to the back right. The other is in the middle of the right side of the tank aimed slightly towards the front window pane. So they are both aimed towards the middle of the tank, but one is in the back, and the other is closer to the front. I would provide a pic, but the second hk 3 stared a mini sand storm and visibility is low.

I don't think that you can have too much flow in a reef enviroment. Some animals will prefer less flow than others, but two HK 3's will be fine. Here's a little bit of reading to give you an idea about flow.

I think that once you get your corals set up in the tank, you'll get a good idea of what kind of flow you want to accomplish. Just make sure there are no dead spots.
Okay. It only caused a mini sand storm because of debris left over on the rock. Its clearing up a lot now, and I think I like it. I have nice surface agitation going on while mainting flow all over the tank :). The real test, like stated above, will be when I place corals in there !!!
