anyways i just threw a fluval 304 on my 46gallon bowfront to help remove some dust from the water, was that a smart move? thanks

Ive used HOB filters to do the same. It's far better to remove the fine particulate sediments then to let them settle, only to get stirred up again later.

yea, i did it and my tank waters already looking clear, but another question, im getting some cured live rock tom. from an ex-employee of a LFS thats been in a tank for like 5 years.. should i keep the fluval on until i make my sump? if i keep it on, should i take the media out of the canister? ( filter pads, stones, carbon and gravel )
