Cover With A Good Light

Good Morning guys, Question ,I'm going to upgrade my light soon to one that has the legs on it. Now i was going to put a glass top on it also and i don't like the idea of having a open top is this what you do ????

Yes it is although I do have a canopy which I rarely put over the aquarium.

What type of lights are you considering?

There many "different flavors" of those.

The following may give you "some ideas" as to the available lighting alternates.

My aquarium came with VHO "built into the canopy" but the ballast became "so hot" that Tenecor (the manufacturer of my aquarium) recommended that I place the ballast under the tank in "the sump area". Within a month the ballast was "crispy critter".

I now 2 of these with three white lights and one blue light:

Many members of the forum have experience with planted tanks.

If you could post more detailed information about your tank, it's "particulars" and your goal we may be able to save you some "money and grief"!

I appreciate that very much, My goal is to have ,spongs mushrooms and other reef corals with also small size tang,clownfish,cobys,lobster,
now i'm just learning salt, and i want to get it all down before i move to something bigger, as far as freshwater i've been doing that since i was 8yr old 27 yrs ago,so atleast i have knolage of fish, i just want to make sure i'm on the right track, so far i herd i was, but i need all the info i can get it just makes me a better hobbyist
