I am looking for an inexpensive rodi filter. I do not want to spend more than about 130 on one because all I have is a 45 gallon fowlr, and I am on well water. Do I even need one? Our water checked in at about 7.4 ph and 120 alk.

To find out how pure your tap water is, you'll need a TDS meter. That will measure Total Dissolved Solids in your water.

more important than the pH and alkalinity levels, you'll want to check out the phosphate and nitrate levels of your well water. If you've got phosphates in your well water, you are going to want to get an RO/DI filter, otherwise prepare for a non-stop battle with unsightly algae.
