asm skimmer shuts off on its own--HELP--

I am cycling my tank finally, but noticed that my skimmer shuts on/off on its own should it be doing that?
ASM G2 skimmer.

only live sand inside now going to put live rock in next couple of days.

Although I know nothng about them the first thing I would do is try to find the company specs on them to see if it is normal or not. If it isn't then I would suspect a short in the switch or that something is getting clogged and causing it to stop.
