Accela powerhead question

Hey all,

I recently bought a bak pak 2+ protein skimmer for my 15gal nano reef. It came with an accela powerhead to power the unit. On the plate that covers the pumps impeller, there is a small hole that starts at the lip of the plate and goes about 1/8" upward. The hole extends past the o-ring that seals the waterflow/air-water mixture, thus allowing the bubbles to excape into the tank. I'm not 100% but i'm pretty sure that this hole isn't supposed to be there. If anyone has one of these and could enlighten me on whats going on would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
