Question 4630SWV18-0903 033 Lobster Tank

First off hello to everyone post #1. I picked up this 110 gal sea Water Visions lobster tank the ones you see in the grocerey store when you buy some live lobsters. It has a sump area down below the tank and a chiller barrel seems to work. I guess what I am asking is what would you do with this tank if you were me? I have never messed with a salt water tank just had cichlid tanks years ago. Should I go salt
sience it is equipped with most of the features, or open up a lobster shop. Thanks scrubb

in your shoes,

i would put the tank on hold for a few months and read about saltwater until i suffered from headache, then read some more. sounds like you picked up a nice tank and knowing what your doing gives you a much greater chance at success as well as save you money. look in your area for a local reefing club, they are great for learning and picking up equipment. what are the dimentions on the tank? sump?

welcome to the forum.

This has been in my garage for at least 2 years, I went to look at a van one day at this little bait shop and saw this stainless tank and said to the owner that would make a nice fish tank. he said I bought it at a auction a couple years ago for 75.00 and he would let me have it for that. i brought it home all excited and wife says that aint going in the house. We are divorced and today she came by to pick up my girl and there is my tank in the living room running smooth and quiet. thanks to this forum I have just read multiple amounts of knowledge just sience friday any way I hope I dont sound like I am rambling. i was unsure of leaving this running in my house when I got it going just water, so i killed the power little did i know about the pump inlet was just that no pipe, so you all know it filled the sump and overflowed several gallons i thought I could hear running water as I was going out the door and sure enough lesson learned so I went to Lowes and fabed up my first custom inlet no glue just yet still need to learn about way too much but thanks to the detailed info in here I want to make a saltwater tank rather than just a fresh water. Much to learn thanks again. scrubb

Having it in my living room for the Ex to see Priceless!

Its white is the only difference and missing the small panels used to acess the sump area and the doors that cover the pump and chiller area.

Wow, you're in Humble? That's not too far from Houston... and they have MARSH there Marine Aquarium Reefers Society Houston, and they have Eric Borneman and Anthony Calfo and many other famous reef keepers. I'd look into the MARSH club and ask for help there. I'm in Dallas and I'd love to see what you end up with , it'll give me a reason to travel down there and actually see the ocean (i've never seen it in real life before)

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea...

Very nice in my book. Today I just tore down the tank due to pump problem and sump issues so I am repairing all of that stuff this weekend need more silocone and have to order a part for the pump.
