About the Nunus Bumblebee Goby
Species Type: Freshwater Fish
Category: Ancient Fish
Care Level: Moderate. May tolerate only a narrow range of water parameters, have specific dietary requirements including frozen or even live foods, may have behaviors that severely limit potential tankmates or may require a specialized aquarium setup.
Origin: India, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaya, Indonesia and Borneo, Bangladesh.
Its requirements are quite similar to the others and it grows to only 3 cm at most.
A tank furnished with several rocks and plants is very important. Be particularly selective in choosing tankmates as it will not tolerate any intrusion in its territory. Are fine kept in groups, but will chase and fight for territory, though they do not generally damage each other.
Suitable tankmates are Celebes rainbowfish, mollies and the smaller glassfish. These fish are ambush predators and not scared to attack fish larger than they are. Long finned tank mates should be avoided.
Sexual dimorphism is unknown. They have been available for quite awhile in the aquarium trade and may be found relatively cheaper in price.
All members of the goby family have evolved with their two ventral fins fused into one. This creates a suction cup effect, which in the wild allows them to hang onto surfaces in currents. In aquariums they can occasionally be seen sticking to the glass.
