idiot move caused had a bad outcome
I was adding some flourish and didn't realize it was exel and accidentally added too much. The next day i came home and found one of my Angels dead. I didn't realize that I bought exel until after my fish died. I feel absolutely HORRIBLE!!!
I know you should add the Angels all at one time so I probably can't buy a few new Angels. I was thinking of some Rams, the profile says the PH they prefer is way lower than what my water is. However, I called the LFS and they have some that were bred and raised in the same PH i have. Would they still work?
Mikrogeophagus ramirezi, the common blue ram, is highly sensitive to water parameters and conditions. Wild caught fish would need the soft acidic water, but tank-raised rams seem to need conditions/parameters equal to the water in which they were bred, so if you can match the breeder's water, it is worth a try.
The warmth is still an important aspect though, this fish will not last below 82F which is too warm for many other tropicals we keep, including angelfish if they are commercially bred, so consider that before you buy them.
On the angelfish, how many do you have, and what size tank? And how large/old are the fish? There may be a way around this.
I now have 3 Angels that I have had for about 4 months. I would say they are about 2-3 inches tall at this point (body only). They are currently in a 55 gallon tank.
Any advice is more than welcome :)
How are the three behaving toward each other? Male/female should be discernable, if you have three females then adding two more fish is less risk as there is no dominant male to deal with in the present group.
