A sincere thank you, from me and my fish
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone here, even those who have never spoken to me before. This forum has been an amazing help to me. Thanks to all of you, I no longer stress every time I look at my fish. Now I know that if I see something that doesn't look right, I just do a quick search here. If I can't find it there, I just ask!
So, thank you for all that you do for us newbies. <3

You're right Cat, TFK is a great resource for fish keeping information. The knowledge pool just keeps getting deeper.
Glad you found your way here ;-)
How nice of you Cat :) I would have been lost without this forum when setting up and cycling my tanks and choosing my fish.
It's one of the many reasons I agreed to be a mod. - I don't mind a little work in exchange for the valuable information and help that I've gotten here since I joined.
On the down side, it did start and fuel my betta addiction - but I don't really consider it a negative
The retailers are there to sell stock, they don't necessarily do it out of love, although some do I am sure. they will continue to keep and sell fish in this manner, just as they have been for a very long time before we stumbled across this hobby.
I have come to the conclusion that as you get into this hobby you go from someone that may or may not have really ever thought about fish, and their fishy little requirements for a healthy and happy life. To someone that is borderline obsessed with water parameters, temperature, aquascaping, ph values, water hardness, fish compatibility, over feeding, algae... etc etc the list goes on.
And as you learn a little at first, and then more and more about all the factors involved in fish keeping you start to actually really care about the fish. and thats the most important point of all really, that you care enough to do your very best to responsibly keep these animals in captivity.
I feel the same way about this site, such a source of credible and friendly advice... its now my favourite place to check in on when online. I just wish I had some more space in my house...... because I would definitely fill it with more fish tanks!
Dont forget if you need imediate help, some ppl including me have started to hang in the chat if i can be of any help I will and I bet everyone els there will too!
Oh heaven's yes, this is a great resource and has saved me so many tears. Yes tears, I used to be constantly frustrated. The first time I was trying to plant live plants, stem plants to be exact, I was just crying because I couldn't get them in the substrate for more then a few seconds before they would be floating to the top. I was a mess but the fine folks here talked me off the ledge. ha ha I hope that you too will hang out with us, share your successes as well as your failures as we can all take away from those experiences. Man could I talk failures. ha ha It seems so easy in theory then you begin to put it together and realize what you thought you knew was nothing compared to what you need to know.
Glad to have you hear and hope we will be able to share many stories. ;)
