new shrimp tank

So I just found out today that my wife's friend is moving and she doesn't want her tank anymore. It's a 10 gallon and not sure what the filter or heater,, or anything else is. But already have plans to turn this into my shrimp tank. The only thing is I don't know much about shrimp needs. All I have are 3 amino shrimp in my 29 gal planted tank. They are doing good, but for this new tank I was thinking about getting some crystal red shrimp and try to raise them. Anyone here have some good advise, like substrate and ect to give?

Thanks,
Adam

I just started my first shrimp tank today, I got some Cherry Reds from a guy on this forum, I heard the darker substrates bring out the colors more so I got Black gravel. and I must say they look alot better on the black, their ccolor really pops out at ya.
