do you think slate would be okay to use in a fish tank? I have a bunch in my yard..........

hi
as long as you give it a good scrub in very hot water
you will be fine,i have slate in my tank,makes great caves. :)

Im going to make slate caves in my 110 gal, and my 30 too so my apistos dont fight all the time lol already put some slate in an african tank for a buddy of mine and hes had no issues ^_^

The slate they use for patios/stepping stones is the same thing right?
b/c thats what is in my yard......its a really old patio with slate and there is a lot of loose pieces that i could use.............

also, how do these look..........?

they look like great rocks,
you need to put some vinagar on them to see if it fizzes
if it does then don't use them.(i think i have that the right way around)
got a piccie of the slate ?
if you are able to use those rocks,make sure they are either spaced apart
or very stable because if they fall you will face a ruined tank.
