Can you suggest a UV sterilizer?

Hi everyone,

I understand there are a number of parameters to take into account when choosing a UV sterilizer.

Can anyone recommend a specific model to control ich, bacteria, and other parasites in a 55 gallon fish only aquarium?

Thanks!

You may want to check this out. I have two of them myself.

Thanks, herefishy.

I ended up getting a 25 watt UV sterilizer because, according to my research, if I got a low wattage UV sterilizer I would have to use a very low gph pump in order to ensure that the water moved through it slowly enough to kill off parasites. Pumping the water slowly may not have allowed the 55 gallons in my aquarium to pass through the UV more than twice, or even once, an hour.

I got a 160gph pump so hopefully exposing the water to 25 watts three times an hour will do the trick.

I may have understood it all wrong and wasted money. It wouldn't be the first time!

Thanks again for the recommendation, though.
