Finally my betta is in his new tank . I've had him for a month now I guess but am still at a loss as to what to name him.

So my Fishy Comrades you have the honour of naming him. Anything goes.

And some advice on tank mates as well as how to keep those fins lovely.

He's a stunning VT. How about Rojo (red in spanish) Diablo (devil) or Blaze?

what about Bettanu? (pronounced Betarnoo) It is a name made up, but it looks like a name that the fighter would be named

I was thinking Rojo too. It's pronouced "RoHo". The "j" is said as an "h" in English. The "o" is a long vowel

I do like the name Rojo. Also he is a gorgeous fish! I love the classic look of a pure red betta. As for tankmates, a lot of people have had success with ember tetra. Another way to keep aggression from tetra down is to have large groups of them (10+). Personally I would rather keep betta either alone or with substrate fish. Good substrate fish are kuhli loach and most of the hardier corydoras species like bronze cory.

I was thinking of Loaches or Cory's but at present i have ADA Amazonia as a substrate and im afraid they might kick up a lot of dirt while they root around

Since I'm not familiar with that, I can't tell you how much they would kick up. But I do know that if it has sharp particles in it, I wouldn't get substrate fish as they are rather sensitive to sharp substrate. Cories tend to root around more whereas loaches are more of a burrower. Maybe knowing this as well as your own personal experience with the substrate will help you make your decision.
