Possible fin rot i think
ok so yesterday i bought a goldfish when i was at the tropical fish aquarium cause i fell in love with it at first sight and wanted to add it with the other goldfish. but anywho as i was getting it ready for it to go in the tank i justhad now notice its fins and they were terribly split and i got a bit concerned wondering it was jipped anywho my other two goldfish got sick in the past and are now better and healthy so i did want to risk putting this fish in the tank til i am certain so right now it's in a qaurintine bowl til i know for certain and i'm beliving it may have fin rot but i could be wrong and it miight just be poaaible bullying from it's old tank but the fins look slip and torn from head to tail and it didn't eat at all and normally that's common when they are getting settled into their new home ut anywho i gave in some medacine just in case but i like to have a second opinion here is it fin rot? it's still little compared to the other teo so its still young
photos(mind you the bowl is just a temporary home and on the bowl is bubbles nothing bad:
Looks like fin rot, but don't medicate unless it's specifically an antibiotic for gram-negative bacteria (like tetracycline). Especially in a bowl, I'd go with nothing more than a salt treatment, and daily (or even twice daily) water changes.
Make sure the temperature is right... I'd even push it to the upper-end for your species of goldfish if possible.
As for the salt, don't add it all at once. I would do fifty percent water chances daily, (or 25-30 twice a day), and add 1/4 tsp of salt to the added water with every change.
After 1 week, post back and let us know the condition.
Salt will help prevent nitrite poisoning (common in bowls), inhibit the growth of bacteria, and reduce stress. It should not be used haphazardly, or regularly, but for treating diseases, I think it's one of the best.
thank you for the advice it's been a week since i got him anf i didn't think anyone wojld reply to this >.< anywho thank you for the advice i did some research and took some precaution while tending to him now he is in the tank swimming with the other two he is very attacked to my copper looking goldfish.i think that ine deemed him as their baby since he is the smallest
