Beside lighting, what else is needed for plants?
 

As some of you may know, I have a 125 gal. I'm currently in the process of cycling my tank. I would like to add plantas to the tank, but I'm not exactly sure where to go with it, and what they need. Ive been reading about the lighting, and I am well informed of that portion, but is there anything else aquatic plants need or that I will need to get them set up?

Also, is it not as simple as adding the plant and its correct lighting and letting them go on their own?

In a low tech setup up, it's almost as simple as that. Although you'll want to use a weekly fertalizer like flourish comprehensive.
