Need help with lighting?
I am setting up a new 90 gallon corner flow. The money would be a consideration but I do want to do this right the first time.Should I go with metal halides or T-5's.I will be using a canopy that is 17" tall,so I don't want a heating problem. This will be a heavy planted aquarium. Any and all help would be appreciated.

Don’t forget that it has to be about 3 watts per gallon and I would go with T5 it gives you more flexibility, less heat and gives you right light spectrum. Halides give you more heat more expensive and light emitted is in the blue spectrum.

Will a T-5 reach the bottom of a 90 gallon 24 inches deep? The reason I ask is I have been reading in The Encyclopedia of Aquarium Plants by Peter Hiscock that in a aquarium that is 24" deep or deeper to go with the Halide's.Thanks for your response I am just trying to figure this out.

Hahah funny. I'm reading same thing!

Anyway... I'm sure that if you give it enough watts it will be ok. go with least 400W of T-5. u'll be good.
