Guppies attacking molly until fed
Hello all, I am having an issue with my new lyretail guppies. The two seem to harass and bite my balloon molly until I feed them. The thing is, I feed them twice a day and I give them a good amount of food. Usually I drop in about 4 or 5 flakes for just them and the molly.
Could it be they want live food or something like that? Should I just feed them more? As it is a lot seems to go to the bottom but mostly that's because they are messy.
You have to be careful not to overfeed. First, all that food on the bottom is not healthy for the aquarium, and second, overfed fish are not healthy themselves.
You don't mention the tank size, it may be too small; fish need room to be themselves. Are there places where the molly can get away and hide? Plants (live or fake), etc?
perhaps the molly is pregnant? Maybe the guppies are expecting the fry to pop out. i observed the same thing with goldfish, this one juvenile female goldfish was dropping eggs(unfertilized presumably), and this other goldfish kept chasing her around.
Not sure if feeding them frequently is enough to stave off the guppies...fish are always hungry.
