new to freshwater plants..

ive owned fish for years but have never gotten around to planting any of my tanks. so i want to start with the smallest, my 2.5 with a betta in it. i bought what was retailed as "betta plants" it says there good with bettas idk. anyways i bought those there like little bulbs and i also bought a 10 pack of flourish tabs so im ready to go. i just sorta need some help to make sure the environment is ok and lighting is ok. ill take pics of the package, and if i ever get to plant the tank, ill take pics of the tank with plants. thanks

Poor beta :(

add some more water.

take that sign out

follow instructions that came with these bulps and be very patient.

you need to add flourish only after you get actual plants .

poor beta? he doesnt mind the sign let alone show any signs of it being there. but yeah i do need to add some water before i go to my dads this weekend. and his tank is REALLY clean i just have a crap camera. anyways i put them in and we'll see what happens. will having flourish tabs while the plants are in there make them start out better?

Ok. what you have is tabs to put in your gravel for your plants to absorb nutrients with the help of roots. Now... what you have now is just a bulbs. you need to place them in the aquarium ( DO NOT BURY THEM IN THE GRAVEL) and let them stay there until roots and few leave come out. Only after that you can put your tabs in to gravel and plant your newly formed plants.

alright im on it. what if umm one of my friends accidentily already put HIS bulbs i HIS tank and didnt let them grow roots and stuff, will HE still have growable plants?

Do not bury bulps in gravel or they will not develop!

I don't get it. Why is this a poor beta? It looks like a nice setup for just one fish.

Most beta's don't even have filters!! This guy obviously cares about his beta.

The water doesn't have to be at the top... There's plenty in there.

And for the sign.. The sign is decorative.. Just because you don't like it is no reason for him to remove it from his tank. It doesn't harm the fish at all.

-------------
Leave the bulbs on top of the gravel. If someone buried theirs have him dig them up and set them on top of the gravel.

Wait until you actually have a plant to feed before feeding it. The bulbs won't care about the nutrients just yet.

the water is what gets me. if you fill it up to the edge of the filter it spins all the water in a cyclone so i always have it a little below so elvis (my betta) doesnt have to wear himself out. oh and i took the bulb outta the gravel and its at the bottom of the tank, i can see a little white root coming from the bottom. ill post pics maybe when it gets bigger
