One more 70gal filter question

I'm moving up to a 70 (or 75) gal FW soon that my father in law gave me. He had 2 oscars in it and used a Marineland 330 bio wheel filter.
How does this look for a replacement:

or is the 330 enough? I thought sumps were just for SW until a few minutes ago.
I don't have a specific plan for the tank yet, other than shoaling fish, plants, driftwood, otos. I'm moving up from a 29 that contains 5 platys, 3 tetras, 2 otos, 1 clown loach.
Thanks.

The Clown Loach will be a problem. The are shoaling, and in addition need a 6 foot tank (125g+ for standard sizes).

For filtration you really don't need to go with a sump on a 75 gallon. You can, if you want, but is far from necessary. You could save some money by just going with a standard canister filter. A sump gives you more water volume which will make the water parameters easier to keep stable because you'll have the combined tanks volume to work with.

That can be necessary with cichlids where you need to overstock because of aggression issues, but for community tanks it isn't necessary and most community fish do not like a strong current.

It's up to you, but don't feel like you need a sump.

$295 for that?
Save yourself the money and trouble. Go get an Eheim 2217 (rated up to 160 gallons) for $110 shipped online. Best filter out there.
If you are gun-hoe on using a sump, make one yourself, you will find it much more interesting and cost efficient.
