RCS with Platys in a planted tank

Hi I have an 8 gal planted tank with a few platys in it and I was wondering if it would be suitable to get a few red cherry shrimp to go in there too. Would the shrimp behave the same as in a species only tank? I realise that some of the baby shrimp will get eaten by the fish but if I provide ample hiding places and moss would some shrimp survive and breed?
Thanks in advance,
Neon.

if you have loads of java moss or any other moss the RCS will breed readily in the tank
