Nano Cube aquarium
Ive been looking around and doing alot of research on aquarium kits that I might buy, and the one that seems to be the most advertised is the Nano Cube Aquarium kit.
ive read alot of reviews and the bad reviews said that they are difficult to do water changes and such because of the hood, but im not sure if the hood is permanantly attached or are the people writing the reviews just lazy.
What do you all think of these Nano Cube Aquarium kits?

NC units are primarily aimed at saltwater keeping, but will do fine for freshwater.

I don't know why the reviewers are saying water changes are difficult, they are just as easy to do as any other friggin' tank with a hood.

Personally I think you're spending too much on a Nanocube, and you could set up a kickass freshwater tank - probably larger with better equipment - with the same amount of money. But it's up to you, and you'll do great with one of these.

Good luck!

Thanks Matt, Im gonna take your advise on that and build my own setup

What size tank are you looking at btw? Any idea what kind of livestock you'd like?

I was thinking something along the lines of a 20 or 30 gallon tank.
Well Im definetly going to have guppies in the tank, and another idea was to have a community livebearer tank(with guppies too of course),as long as they get along with the guppies that is.
Also after alot of research Ive decided on getting one of these two filters,
either the emperor or the aqua clear. Any suggestions?

Hmm, I don't have any experience with the Emperor filters, but I use an AquaClear 50 for my 40 gallon tank.

The AC units are very easy to maintain, and are notorious for their ability to last years and years. I have owned 3 different AC units and they all served me well - I still own them, I just needed to upgrade sizes. Fine items, no doubt.

Pick up the 30 gallon tank if you can, you'll be upgrading from the 20 gallon eventually, might as well do it from the start lol.

Good luck!!

aye I second the vote for the 30 gal. I use a penguin filter in my 30 gal, which is VERY similar, just a little cheaper than the emperor. so far I LOVE mine, so you cant go wrong with the emperor, which is even better.

with that said, I have never used aquaclear filters but alot of people I respect the heck out of swear by them :)

I have an aquaclear that is still working like a charm and I have no idea how old it is. My penquins are 6 months old and barely function...not happy with them
