I have 2 twenty gallon fish tanks well actually one was a reptile tank and I had just cleaned it out with soap intending it to be a fish tank. I am not sure what I was thinking as to using soap a detergent and now I am worried I wont be able to put fish in that tank since I used soap in it. Is there any way to get rid of the soap and or residue and use the tank? Secondly my other twenty gallon needs to be sanitized after a bout of bacterial infection killed all my last fish. On one site it suggests using salt or bleach the latter being stronger and my choice, it said to let the bleach in the aquarium sit for a couple of days and let it run through the filter. Is this safe?:|
Use a mix of white vinegar and water in a bucket and clean both tanks and rinse then multiple times. They should be fine after that. Good luck with your tanks!
