2 light bulbs?

hi everyone, im thinking of switchng over to saltwater and was wondering about my hood that i already have can only fit 1 light and iv seen on my buddies nano reef tank that he has 2 one of them is like a dark purple and blue mix. Would i have to change my hood or would the one type of light bulb for saltwater be fine?

For a SW fish-only system, your current system, with a bulb upgrade would suffice. If you are seeking to go with a Reef system, you will most certainly need to upgrade your lighting. Depending on the type of corals/inverts you want to keep, the lighting upgrade could be very costly. But it's sooooooo worth it!

You can't quite just ask "will this work" with either salt or freshwater. Reasons? I know plenty of folks with over $3,000 invested in 50g freshwater planted tanks, same for a nice reef tank. Sure $100 could get you off and running with a freshwater fish tank, same for a salt water fish only tank. It's what do you want in the end? It's very important to decide what you want of your tank and then it will be much easier to help you choose your lighting.

What you have will be fine if you only want fish.
