so, i was wanting to hear anyone else's experiences with their oscars or other fish that let them do this... this is my first time keeping oscars and i have only had them about a month now. my biggest one, the "albino", is less than three inches long, he already comes up and lets me pet his head with my finger and both him and my little tiger oscar will eat out of my hand. they're just too cool! it's funny because when i'm petting my albino, if the tiger gets too close my albino gets territorial and chases him away real fast. normally they are really clingy and friendly with each other... anywho, so share your experiences please! :D
I didn't know oscars where that friendly :)
the oscar in my office lets me feed him, but not pet him or anything like that... does not allow strangers to feed him...
he is always in the front watching the girls... i wish i was him, i get stuck in my cubicle and he gets to watch them all day...
only time he is afraid of is when i do water changes... other times, he is always in the front.
Wow, that's really cool that he lets you pet him. :) The only experience I've had with oscars is when I was growing up my dad had a large tank with 2 oscars in it. They got pretty big, about 4-5 inches each, and they tore up the tank. They ate the plants and were very aggressive towards the other fish, even killing some. We eventually had to get rid of them because we could keep nothing else in the tank. :(
