too bright

hey everyone , i was wondering if anyone could tell me if they make any kind of different bulbs for my hood , i have a ten gallon tank with a stock hood and i am using two compact flourescent bulbs , they are about 6 inches long but in my oppinion they are way too bright and seem to flush out the colors of my fish and decorations , tank does not have real plants , just fake. the wattage is 10 watts apiece but i really would like a more suttle look with a little more color , can anyone steer me in the right dirrection? thanks for any advise

I'd stick with live plants and add some slates or wood for refuge. A black background and black substrate make a stunning touch for the tank.

look on the bulb for the k rating. its not how much light its the color of the bulb that bothers you. try for a 6500k day light bulb.
