starting a community tank

hey everyone im new here but i need some help with stocking my community tank.

its a 60 gallon tank and as of right now only has some snails and 2 german rams

i want to add some angels but i dont know what else i can add to the tank, any help would be great.

the tank has been up for over a year but i kept a jack dempsey in it untill i just recently got rid of him.

Adding an angel may be difficult since cichlids like your ram do better in hard water and angel fish prefer soft water.

Welcome to Tropical Fish Keeping forum.

It would help us in suggesting fish if we knew your water parameters; hardness and pH of the tap water. Some fish have preferences for soft water or hard water, some are adaptable to some extent. You shoould be able to ascertain this from your water supply people, they may have a website.

We also have profiles, second tab from the left in the blue bar across the top of the page. Lots of fish are included now, with data on water, tank size, numbers, etc.

Byron.

ph is around 7 and i dont remember the exact number for hardness but i tested it for a science lab i had to do and the water is a little on the hard side

Just off the top of my head, you could look into rainbowfish (three species are in our profiles, two of them are medium size so fine for your 60g but there are several others with similar needs), some of the peaceful barbs, danio and rasbora from the cyprinids group. There are some peaceful (relatively) medium cichlids like the Firemouth and Keyhole (not together). Yu could make up quite a nice display from among these, and not one livebearer included.;-)
