What fish are you getting?

Got some mbunas for it, the lady at the pet store was very helpful in picking compatible ones as she breeds them.

what fish and how many specifically did you get ?

4 johanni, 4 acei, 4 demonasi, and 3 afras not sure of sexes yet as they are pretty small still, I am aware that I will have to sort some out if the male to female ratio isn't right. I can trade them out on new ones at the lfs until the harem ratio is right

Demansoni alone need to be kept in a group of 12, so that fills your tank up straight away with the acei and afras.

Mbuna are harem fish meaning they need to be kept with 1 male to 4 female minimum

Johanni, again need to be kept in a large group to keep aggression low.

Hate to say it but those fish are not going to work in a 55g tank. The Demansoni and Johanni are simply too aggressive for a 55g tank. :-(

Recommendation would be for 15 fish of 3 species only in a 55g tank.

Got the lfs to take the johanni and demonasi ( he wanted the demonasi for breeding as they are hard to find around here) what 3rd species should I get to go with the acei and afra"s Taz?

Yellow labs would add some color.

They get along and play with acei well, mine go crazy together playing in the jet of maxijet 1200 powerhead nozzle.
