Unusual irratic behaviour
I have a Cherry Barb that constantly swims on the diagonal and near the surface constantly, it never stops and its swimming movements are rapid (without going anywhere and in a slow cuurent) also its mouth and gill movements are extremely rapid also, any ideas what this is?
Check your water paramaters. Could be ammonia or more likely nitrIte poisoning. I'd change a bunch of water if you can't test it now. Sounds like the fish is wanting more oxygen than it's getting. Could be parasites or some kind of gill disease.
Did wter change of around 30% today, all the other fish are behaving normaly, no signs of parasites or anything else from the ohers. Thankyou for your advice
What size tank do you have. If you have ammonia or nitrite higher than 0ppm than you should do more than a 50% water change.
Let us know how the little guy is doing. Hope the barb is doing better.
Unfortunately the barb passed on, all the other inhabitants tho are perfectly fine and doing very well
Did you check your parameters?
was he a new fish?
the peramiters were fine when i checked them, also did several water changes since. Had it for around 3 months. All the others are fine
