old tank ????

I have a 72 gal tank. I've had fish in it 12 years. Over the past year I had to take some silver dollar fish, and they have killed everything I had in the tank. Now there is just one of them left. That is all that has been in this take for a month or so. I plan on finding him a new home and restocking the tank. Just wondering will I need to go through a cycling process? Since there has been only 1 fish for so long. I also have snails in there.
thanks
J

I would not think so. Though when you do go to stock the tank again I would still stock it slowly. Only adding a group of fish at a time. Like a group of 6-7 every couple of weeks and monitering the parameters. Adding to many fish at once might cause an ammomia spike.
