| GwenInNM | 03-11-2012 05:18 PM | Short Petsmart story So, I'm at Petsmart, to buy 6 hatchetfish. I ask the young adult who works there, what ph level their tanks are at. Since mine is 6.3 I wanted to know how long to acclimate them etc. He replies, "I just tested it, it's at 4.1". I'm like, really? How do you get your tanks at 4.1? He says they have a "sump pump". Oh, well, knew that was probably not accurate. Curiosity - I tested their water when I got home. No surprise, it's a 8.2, which is where tap water is here. I felt like calling to let them know what their ph was, in case someone else asked, but didn't:-D
What could he have been testing with (I know they use the strips) to get that reading? It's sad how little the staff know at those big chain stores.
